They've teamed up with McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C. to find a leader for their 70,000-student district. The role offers a salary of $245,000 to $325,000, with applications closing on December 12, 2023. Interviews and selection will occur in early 2024, with the start date by July 1, 2024. APS emphasizes community involvement in this process, opening an online survey and hosting two meetings in November to gather public input on their future Superintendent.

She had been authorized to open a school serving students in grades 6-12. But after just a couple of years, Mitchell concluded that the school needed to start working with students from their earliest years of schooling, to keep them from falling behind. Mitchell’s own compelling story, and how she built MAS into the highly successful school it is today is the subject of this interview.
